So he brings 4th squad which intercepts 3 ranged squads of mine and all my squads die to melee (and even bringing kroots as my 4th squad seems to do nothing because his 4 squads clog and kill my FW anyway).
Generally speaking my enemy brings in melee-able squads which continue to damage my squads while im running my FW/commander around the battlefield as per recommendations in this thread, but unfortunately my troop seems to do no damage while running or being melee'd constantly.
I feel like i'm doing the first encounter infinitely wrong, to be honest. Generally I have 5 resource points and 4 listening posts by that point, but my enemy just uncaps them with his initial force on the way to my base (or pins me at my base and kills LP's/recaps my points with his reinforcements described below). Yeah, I will totally appreciate the mod, thank you. Give it a shot and see if being able to see more makes your life easier. I hate the default camera, way too close. If you take one of their squads out of the fight, then that is one more of your squads that will remain free to shoot.ĮDIT: Also, if you don't feel like this is cheating, there is a camera mod for Soulstorm so that you can zoom out more. The reason behind this is that, as long as you are properly spread out, then 1 squad can only tie up 1 other squad in melee. Put all your shots into one enemy at a time so that you can eliminate a "piece" that the enemy has on the board. This way they take less damage and you can still have other squads firing on the enemy. As long as you use the Kroot to get their attention, you can spare them some damage by having them run away again (not towards your FWs of course). How much map control do you have by that point? Most of your economy is in expansion, so you really need to get out on the map and put listening posts down.ĭepending on how much of a clusterfuck it is, you can kite with your Kroot too.
